Purpose and Limitations

Purpose

The purpose of this user documentation is to provide guidance on the use of REVaRS as a solution for barrier-based approach to cumulative risk management. It provides insight to the concept of barrier management and cumulative risk evaluation, including navigation of the tool and interpretation of the different user interfaces.

Limitations

The barrier-based approach for major risk management is applicable to major risks associated with onshore and offshore oil and gas upstream facilities including pipelines. The approach is best suited for quick indication of how the risk associated with a scenario, which has previously been assessed by a suitable method, changes with changing barrier conditions.
